§ 14-41. Steamboat Springs Municipal Court surcharge.

  • (a)

    Penalties for violation. Any person who is issued a citation or a summons to appear in Steamboat Springs Municipal Court, and upon paying the fine imposed, shall be subject to pay an additional surcharge in the amount of twenty dollars ($20.00) for all Steamboat Springs Revised Municipal Code violations, including Model Traffic Code violations other than parking violations. A surcharge in the amount of eighteen dollars ($18.00) of each twenty-dollar surcharge imposed shall be directed to the City of Steamboat Springs police services budget to be used for law enforcement training and equipment and two dollars ($2.00) of each twenty-dollar surcharge shall be retained by the City of Steamboat Springs as an administrative fee and directed to the City of Steamboat Springs general fund. The entire twenty-dollar surcharge collected for animal code violations shall be directed to the City of Steamboat Springs parks, recreation and open space Services budget to be used for dog park improvements.

    (b)

    All surcharges shall be in addition to the amounts set forth by order of the Municipal Court for the City of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, pursuant to subsection 14-5(b) of the Steamboat Springs Revised Municipal Code.

    (c)

    The surcharge or any portion thereof may not be deferred or waived by the municipal court judge.

    (d)

    The surcharge shall be imposed no more than once per summons or citation regardless of the number of violations charged in the summons or citation.
